Ahoy, It’s a Boy!Many moons ago we were beyond psyched to find out we were having a baby boy and that our little girl was going to be a big sister! Yes, I am posting this almost 3 years later haha, but it’s as meaningful now as it was then... This adorable baby shower was given by my best friend Victoria, who is amazing in every way. I was scared and had zero clue about raising a boy, but with a little boy of her own she was there with support. This shower was so special to me because although plans took a very different turn, it was all about celebrating our baby.
3/23/2018 0 Comments Activity DaysI am now an Activity Days Leader, and I love it! My husband has been a Scout leader for many years, so I think it's exciting that I get to be part of the girl equivalent where we live. If you're not familiar with this program, it is for girls ages 8-11 to help develop talents, make friends, nurture faith, and build good gospel habits like praying, studying scriptures, and serving. It's been so much fun taking my own daughter (a little early, but she loves it), getting to know the girls and doing these activities with them. Not all of our girls come to church regularly (many are awesome missionaries and bring friends every week), so we try to plan activities that are fun and which they can still feel they are not left out. We actually have 3 leaders because we have that many girls, and not all of 3 of us are always available with our little babies so it's been nice having the ability to rotate or combine our efforts. Here are some of the things we've been up to.
Curiouser and CurioserI saw an inspiring Alice in Wonderland poster that had Alice falling from a tree, and even the tree was disappearing just like the Cheshire Cat! I loved it so much, I decided I needed to make an Alice in Wonderland birthday invitation for it! I love how wacky it turned out! I think it’d be perfect for everything from a little girl’s birthday party to a shower for a baby named Alice... or a bridal shower for a Wonderland themed wedding... There’s a lot to look through, I know—but can you spot some of these adorable details I threw in? A flamingo for playing croquet. The Cheshire Cat. The White Rabbit. A pocket watch. The key. Alice having a spot of tea because “it’s always tea time.” Even the invitation wording is fun with references from the book and movie!
3/19/2018 0 Comments Speech Therapy ActivitiesI wrote earlier this year about how we found out my Little Guy is a bit of a Late-Talker, so here’s an update. Our goal with him is to encourage his vocabulary and to share with me some learning tools and techniques to teach him. As the parent who’s working with him every day, I am more able to make a difference versus a professional who only sees him once or twice a month. Little Guy has made wonderful progress on his own naturally over time, and also with our speech therapist. He looks forward to her visits because he loves playing with her. I think he is always so willing to mimic, follow, and participate in games because she focuses on just him and plays so well with him. I’ll share some of the activities and things we’ve tried.
3/19/2018 0 Comments Irish Pub St. Patrick’s Day PartyI’m so glad you don’t have to be Irish to share in the festivities of St. Patrick’s Day because I really look forward to Jeremy’s mashed potatoes and Irish soda bread every year! Back in the day when more of my husband’s family was living nearby, it became a really fun tradition for the really “white” ones to throw the Cinco de Mayo party and for us the “Mexican definitely not Irish” ones to host the St. Patty’s party. All in good fun, eh! This year our troll from Norway took a backseat on the bookshelf with L’s rainbow so that we could try a different theme.
3/16/2018 0 Comments The Lotus TempleHidden away in Utah is a lovely Hindu Temple which we drive by every day on the way to my husband’s school. It attracts thousands of people during the Holi Festival of Colors coming up next weekend. Since there was no school today for both my teacher-husband and little girl, we wanted some family time and decided it was a perfect opportunity to visit before the crowds arrived. L has been pouring through the contents of her World Explorers Club: India package, and got to use her ticket to visit this Sri Sri Hare Krishna Lotus Temple in Spanish Fork. It’s such a unique building in that it’s one of the few Rajasthani style buildings in America.
3/14/2018 0 Comments Doc McStuffins Birthday InvitationI realize my daughter who was once into all things Doc McStuffins might be moving on, but designing this invitation really brought me joy imagining what throwing her a Doc McStuffins birthday party might have been like. Learn from my mistakes—throw a Doc McStuffins party for your adorable kiddo before they grow up on you. And oh hey, here’s a freaking cute invite for it!
3/13/2018 0 Comments Frozen Party Cupcake ToppersI have always wanted to make custom themed cupcake toppers! They seem like the perfect special touch to a dessert or party table, and definitely scream “we’re celebrating!” to me. These were super fun to design because I could let loose a little and create 12 different versions of whatever I wanted rather than trying to settle on just one idea. I had fun coming up with several designs and mixing the colors. I really want an excuse to use these in real life! The hardest part was realizing there were no more cupcake mixes in my pantry to whip some of these up during nap time because working with these cupcake photos has started a craving!
3/8/2018 2 Comments Frozen Fever Birthday PartyThere are so many creative party planners out there, it’s always so lovely when they take the time to share photos of the end results using what you made for them! Seeing the finished product is always thrilling, but this party planned and styled by Jaynnebonilla blew me away. She had me custom design a banner that she used as a focal point in an ornate golden frame. I thought the whole setup turned out breathtaking, especially the lighting and that stunning four-tiered cake!
3/8/2018 0 Comments DIY Little Passports: IndiaNamaste! In celebration of the Festival of Colors happening at our local Lotus Krishna Temple this month, our little explorer is adventuring to India! Our DIY Little Passports project shares the wonder of new places with our kiddo every month.
3/6/2018 1 Comment Walker is 9 MonthsBaby had a busy month! Seemingly overnight he learned how to crawl and get into everything. He said his first word, and today I discovered two little teeth poking out of the bottom of his gums! He also had his first bath with his older siblings, and absolutely loved it.
