4/24/2018 0 Comments Lizard 6th Birthday PartyIt’s been an action packed weekend starting with a couple of birthday celebrations! My dear friend Victoria is at it again and put together a fun-filled lizard birthday party that my kids absolutely loved. The birthday boy got a real bearded dragon and setup from his family a few days prior, so his party matched! Victoria didn’t have to make the cake this year because she won this cake in a service auction (so smart!). This delicious moist chocolate cake turned out beautiful and perfect for the Lizard theme!
4/22/2018 0 Comments Jer’s Birthday SurpriseAlthough we had a family dinner planned, I had nothing special prepared for my husband’s actual birthday- major wife fail. Nothing seemed awesome enough, and I didn’t have the funds or time to execute something spectacular at the last minute. Just when all seemed lost, I was inspired by the first year we celebrated his birthday as a couple. We had just started seriously dating each other, and I sent him on a wild goose chase (aka birthday scavenger hunt) with a friend. They picked up Del Taco, made a scene in the children’s section of the library with his giant birthday card which blasted the Star Wars theme, found gifts all over campus... and ending up at a gazebo that was “our spot”. I had decorated it with streamers and was waiting for him for our picnic. He still talks about how much he loved me in the yellow sundress I wore haha. I figured 9 years was enough time in between to make him a new scavenger hunt! This time it was much shorter and he’d complete it with our daughter. They started at the house, went to his favorite soda shop, then to the library, a park, and finally a food truck rally. I wanted each stop to be purposeful and for him to pick up a gift. Here are some ideas that inspired the different stops and clues for my husband’s birthday scavenger hunt.
Part of designing fun party invitations is figuring out wording! We love puns haha. Dinosaurs are inherently NEAT to me so it was challenging to think less is more! I’ve been wanting to create a girly printable for some traditionally boyish party themes, and what better theme than a Dinosaur Girl Birthday Invitation. These are not your ordinary dinosaurs—they are party animals complete with their celebratory hats! I had a dream last night about how the boy version of this would look like. It was cute!! Can’t wait to update this post with the design.
4/14/2018 0 Comments DIY Little Passports: JapanKonichiwa! Our little explorer is adventuring to Japan this month as we celebrate the cherry blossoms on the other side of the world, and changing of seasons here. Every month she receives a surprise package as part of our DIY Little Passports project! Check out what arrived from the Land of the Rising Sun.
4/6/2018 0 Comments Walker is 10 MonthsBaby boy loves standing! He was smart enough to not just use furniture, but also climbed up onto the wall in the hallway so he could stand up. He’s started “helping” me do dishes by climbing onto the dishwasher and emptying the utensils from the bottom rack.
4/2/2018 0 Comments The Logo of the PartyI guess a graphic designer should have a logo for their shop :) Otherwise it’s like that hairdresser who gives the false impression that they don’t do fine work because their own hair is never stylish... or does that actually mean they dedicate themselves to their craft to the point that they don’t have time or energy left over to personally benefit from their own talent? In my case I figured the time to do my own hair—I mean, logo!—was Spring Break. And why stop there? Why not make a new banner, too, and banish all the ghosts of wedding guest books past? Make way for the new party printables! You can see the new logo at my shop here. Read on for more updates.
4/2/2018 0 Comments Easter Blessings and BasketsIt’s now Spring Break! For us that means family time finally when my husband-teacher can join in all the nice weather activities. We planned to fill our Spring Break with hiking, swimming at the pool, going to the aquarium, attending financial planning meetings and General Conference and Easter Dinner with all the family over and 90th birthday reunions... Alas, Jer came down with flu-like symptoms his first day off and we had to cancel everything. Instead of getting a break I worked overtime. I prayed a lot- and I survived, even got to enjoy these moments everyone keeps saying I’ll miss. Instructions on how to make these Lloyd tradition Easter Baskets at the end!
