Today I’m featuring some special handmade home decor in a surprising medium—crochet! I never learned to crochet, but I may start after sharing these lovely creations that add beauty and also function! The super talented Chalia of Chalia’s Craft on Etsy makes her own patterns, and asked me to photograph her creations. Here are some ways of bringing the coziness and comfort of crochet to every room at home. Check it out!

1/26/2018 0 Comments Mermaid Tail Drawstring BagL is super excited about being invited to her sweet friend’s third birthday party, and joy of all joys it is Mermaid themed! Now what to give the little girl who loves mermaids? A mermaid tail bag she can carry on her shoulder and put all her precious dingle-hoppers in, of course! She can even use it to magically turn her dollies and stuffies into mermaids, too! I saw a picture of something like this on Pinterest (but no tutorial!) so I figured one out, and it took less than a whole naptime to complete (you can do it, I love quick projects like this!). Read on for semi-instructions.
1/23/2018 0 Comments DIY Little Passports: HawaiiAloha! Hawaii is the first destination in our DIY Little Passports project to share new places with my young explorer every month this year!
I can’t express my deep love and admiration for this little boy. He hugs me like I’m his everything, and then 20 seconds later wants to run off and play. We’ve been having some challenges lately, and honestly I’m overwhelmed and exhausted at facing them. I figure if I write them down maybe I will feel more able to deal with them.
1/14/2018 0 Comments The Butterfly RoomHave you ever met a butterfly up close? Not only are they beautiful, they are also such friendly, enchanting creatures. We headed to the aquarium for the new exhibit that allows you to visit 5 different kinds of butterflies in a special enclosed area of the “South America” section. We had so much fun seeing if we could spot them, learning about butterfly life cycles, seeing what they eat, and even interacting with them!
1/6/2018 0 Comments Walker is 7 MonthsA Month of FirstsThis little boy is growing so fast! A couple of weeks ago he was just under 15 pounds and 5th percentile in weight. There has been plenty of excitement with the holidays, traveling and meeting family for the first time, as well as new milestones during his 6th month. He continues to have such a happy countenance (especially after he wakes from a nap) and is always making those around him smile. He’s started growling gruffly when he’s really angry, which is rare and makes us laugh anyway because he’s such a chill baby. Here’s a look at some fun milestones.
1/2/2018 0 Comments Let’s Play Kitchen! The kids were so good that they got the play kitchen of their dreams for Christmas. Santa even left a note explaining that his elf told him we’d be traveling for the holidays, so he delivered it to our house but also paid us a visit where we were. That Santa, so thoughtful! He totally knew we had a tiny car packed to the brim already and wouldn’t be able to haul an assembled play kitchen home.
1/2/2018 0 Comments AquariumOur last day of winter break together was also January 1! Daddy decided to do something special for the kids (well, mostly L, who adores everything ocean related). We packed everyone in the car and visited the aquarium! With our Aquarium Passes (highly recommend if you have a large/young family or plan to visit more than once), we told the kids it would be a quick visit so we could have lunch.
