10/31/2017 1 Comment Three Kids for Halloween!Happy Halloween! We just ended our day and I'm ready to slow down for a second and catch my breath. No such thing with these 3 littles. 10/29/2017 2 Comments My Parenting EpiphanyI hope I'm not alone when I have not a clue how to parent. This is a learning experience for me where even when I've done my research and combined it with the collective wisdom of experts and veterans, turns out I studied for a completely different kid. I worry that I'm inadvertently messing up my children; many of my prayers are asking for mercy and strength because I'm at the end of my abilities. Recently I've reached a turning point in the power struggle that is raising my kids. I'm still working on it but there's hope! Just wanted to document the journey.
10/15/2017 1 Comment Fashion Lookout Fall
I'm always telling my husband I don't want or need more clothes. Mostly I accumulate clothing without buying them because very kindhearted family and friends pass down their stuff or buy birthday/Christmas presents. I also don't seem to change sizes. Recently I cleaned out my closet when I started the KonMarie method of only keeping items which brought me joy. I lost a lot of favorite items in that purge because they were stained, torn, or otherwise not wearable and I was still hanging on to them. It's been a long time since I've shopped for clothing for myself, and I figure I should thoughtfully enjoy the process. I'm looking for pieces that will be staples in my closet, work for multiple seasons, and fit right into my capsule wardrobe.
10/14/2017 0 Comments Unicorn Doll DressSept 25- My little niece's birthday was coming up and her Mom mentioned that she loves playing with her handmade unicorn doll she got for Christmas, but that the doll might need a new (more modest) babydoll dress. We can't have that, I thought, and got to work!
10/13/2017 0 Comments Hello FallI grew up in a place where the leaves did not change color--they just blew away! Each year that I experience Fall, it really feels like a magical time and makes saying goodbye to summer a little less terrifying. For the wife of a wrestling coach, Fall means the start of wrestling season and not seeing him from November through March. He came home the other day with this year's new wrestling jackets for the coaches' wives and could not wait for the season to start. Since we will soon be seeing a lot less of each other, we figured it was about time we went on a proper date without babies or kids. "Alone time". It's been so long since we've had said alone time that as soon as we got some amazing babysitters lined up, we literally sat there and wondered what to do for our date and remained in that stupor of a state until the hour before go time!
10/13/2017 0 Comments Jaker's Pumpkin PatchBaby is not ready to be out in large crowds or public places yet, but that hasn't stopped us from welcoming Fall and all the fun that comes with it!
10/8/2017 0 Comments Walker is 4 MonthsThis kid is now 12 pounds 5 ounces. Smiles sometimes! Hilarious long farts while breastfeeding. Starts scratching his face if he's been crying for too long. Losing a lot of his hair, completely bald in one spot at the back of his head from where his head rubs on the car seat, crib, or bassinet. Squeezing into the last of his size 1 diapers with his adorable chunky legs. I've put away his size 0-3 month clothing now because he's too long for them. He is now in size 3-6 month clothes, and has made it on the chart at 2% for full-term weight.
10/5/2017 0 Comments A Wreath for All Seasons: FallI finally started on my interchangeable wreath! These felt flowers and foliage are addicting to make. I only had about 3 minutes at the store on the way home, so I bought a wreath that was too big and didn't check for any new felt. This was the best I could do with the colors on hand I had leftover from my quiet book project.
10/5/2017 0 Comments Prayer and an Open HeartGeneral Conference was extra special because Uncle Travis, recently home from his mission, spent Priesthood session and Sunday with us. We also got to meet the twins for the first time who are now 1 month old! We've been working on reading the scriptures together with L every night, and lately we've been learning about receiving answers to our prayers.
10/4/2017 0 Comments Tooele Baby ShowerWe took a little family road trip to Tooele to celebrate a dear friend having a baby girl when she has all boys! She was our nanny for our little girl's first year and is one of the finest mothers I know. It had been over a year since the last time we saw her, and we have a new baby to introduce to her! Since this isn't her first kid, and she asked for diapers I thought it'd be fun to bring her a diaper cake that L decorated. L even wrote her a hand-made card. Read on to check it out!
