I've been getting the crafting bug and haven't yet had the time to do anything but dream with taking care of our busy young family.
I do, however, have grand plans to create a year-round door wreath inspired by my sweet neighbor who was also my visiting teaching companion until she moved away.
9/24/2017 0 Comments About A BoyJust last night this little boy surprised me by giving me not one--but two!--special goodnight kisses on the lips. I can count on my one hand how many times he's kissed me, so that totally made my day. I don't even know what I did to deserve them so that I can get more! They are the sweetest, most adorable kisses because he smiles so big afterwards like he wants to savor your reaction.
He's two years old, and already he's changed so much from last year. Our sweet boy is still the little entertainer, an energetic hilarious pile of cute. Some things to remember about him at this age... 9/19/2017 0 Comments To My HusbandToday my sweetheart and I have been married for eight years, but he could tell you embarrassing stories of me from long before when he knew me as a youth. We lived in the same home town, grew up with each other's families, banded together in singles ward, and have had many adventures since. He knows me in ways that no one else could ever know me, and is as familiar and comforting as home.
My husband is amazing, and I'll tell you why. 9/18/2017 0 Comments Family Photos in the ParkThese turned out amazing. Probably because those are real smiles from playing ring around the rosy and hanging with our best buds! It means so much to me that our family photos for the last few years were taken by our close friend, the lovely and very talented Victoria. We were so excited when her whole family showed up! This day we met them at the park for a stroll along the board walk, some intermittent frisbee golf, and a trip to the playground. But first, family photos! I think Victoria's skill and patience is evident in the many beautiful moments she captured of my children. I am having a really hard time paring it down and figuring out which to fit on the Christmas cards! Here is just a sneak peak...

9/2/2017 0 Comments Christmas Stocking Ideas
It's only August, and I've got Christmas on my mind. There are a few sewing projects I'd need to get started on soon. We need a new set of 5 Christmas stockings. Last year we had to grab a random sock to use for Fletcher because I didn't get to make him one. This year we have a new baby who will need a stocking, too. Our old burlap and linen stockings are too small now (you have to strategically shove a DVD into the opening), and some have ripped or otherwise broken. Now that I can just do a completely new set, I've been on the hunt for some cute modern or boho designs.
For wrapping and decorations this year I'd like to work with what we have: brown or white kraft paper, blue gingham washi tape, and lots of blue in our living room. I loved the blue, black, and white mudcloth Christmas stocking idea to match! Both the finished product and the raw mudcloth to sew from scratch are much too expensive for me to buy/make 5 stockings. I might just buy a smaller size mudcloth and use it for the cuffs, but make the body out of a contrasting fabric. 9/2/2017 0 Comments Pillow Love
Everyone has too many of something. At one point I was hoarding picture frames and filling every wall with them because I felt guilty I had so many. Those were one of the first things I let go of in my KonMarie purge because they didn't bring me joy.
Pillows are a different story. My husband says that I'm a pillow freak. I can't help myself, pillows DO bring me joy. They are one of my favorite ways to update our living room. Even digitally I'm obsessed with them:
My pillows work hard and in addition to being cute are usually tough, washable, and up to this point cost less than $20 to buy and $10 to make. These days I really want more texture, history, and color from my pillows. Textiles from all over the world have been on my radar, lately African mudcloth and Hmong batik fabric from Thailand. They were always over my budget, so I finally bought my first "expensive pillows" today when the stars aligned at HiveHouse on Etsy for the only time I'd be willing to buy them. Labor Day sale of 25% off, I could pick up today since it's local and skip the shipping charges, and my pillows cost $37.50 each! Aren't they gorgeous??
