We look forward to the St. Patrick’s Day Party all year long! It all started with our BFF’s sharing a pot of corned beef and cabbage with us in our little apartments, and Jeremy making his famous mashed potatoes to go with it. Back then we maybe had one kid each, and since we lived just a couple of doors down from each other we could walk back and forth between our kitchens and living rooms. This celebration of family, friends, and delicious Irish food kind of grew and took on a life of its own! Our BFF’s rescued the tradition this year by hosting at their gorgeous newly built home. There is so much I love about their home (besides the people that live there) and you can just see the care and craftsmanship they put into every detail that everyone was excited to check out. They have beautiful barn wood posts on their great room ceiling, Edison bulbs on every light fixture, gorgeous gray-washed kitchen cabinets, a 10 foot kitchen island (which turned out perfect for this party!), wooden flooring, and even this handy dandy custom cabinet that lifts and locks her beloved Kitchenaid mixer so she doesn’t have to go anywhere to stow it away. Victoria did such a great job decorating! Rob did some last minute stuff you just don’t think about when you move in, like installing a towel bar in the bathroom haha. They even bought and set up their leather furniture set the night before so there would be plenty of seating—seriously the most amazing hosts. Our families and extended family joined together, and we had an even better time! The babies loved eating all the chocolate gold coins before the guests arrived. My husband’s family is really close, and his brother was moving that week and wanted to see everyone before driving off. What a treat to meet with friends that we haven’t seen in almost 10 years! St. Patrick’s Day Party FoodAll the food was SO good!! We made a pot of corned beef and cabbage, peach cobbler baked in a cast iron skillet, and I did some easy baked potatoes that everyone said was like a giant French fry haha! I think that means it was yummy? The Dunn’s made the other giant pot of corned beef, a no-bake layered dessert made with Girl Scout thin mint cookies. Family brought a ton of delicious food including Shepherd’s pie, Irish soda bread, green salad, green jello, a green sherbet punch. ShenanigansWe had a ton of kids, so I set up a “pin the clover on the leprechaun” game from previous years that the kids enjoyed with lots of blindfolds and spinning. I wish I got a pic of all the adorable kiddos in their green clothing! I just got my boys before we arrived... This sweet face just melts my heart! This is how I feel after this party hahaha... so grateful for all the wonderful blessings we have, and the amazing people who have made a difference in our lives. And food, yummy yummy carbs :) We’ll see if we can fit everyone at our place next year!
